Under the “TB-Free India Campaign,” a special awareness and free health screening program was organized at the Shahdara South Zone office of MCD. The program aimed to spread awareness about tuberculosis (TB), encourage early testing, and ensure that people understand the importance of proper and complete treatment.
Program Led by Senior Officials
The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ram Kishore Sharma. His presence highlighted the importance of public health awareness at the local level. The event was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of Shahdara South Zone, Vairocpam Punsiba Singh. The District Magistrate (East) also attended the program as the Guest of Honour, showing strong administrative support for the TB-Free India mission.
Free Screening Services for Public and Employees
A major highlight of the program was the availability of free medical check-ups for both government employees and the general public.
People were provided with several important health services, including digital chest X-rays, sputum tests for TB detection, blood sugar testing, and general health check-ups. A large number of people attended the camp and benefited from these free services. This made it easier for individuals to get tested without worrying about cost, which is often a barrier in early diagnosis.
Awareness About TB and Its Treatment
During the program, medical experts explained in very simple language that TB is a serious disease but it is completely curable. They stressed that early detection and proper treatment can save lives and prevent the spread of infection. Experts also shared information about common symptoms such as continuous cough, fever, weakness, and weight loss. They advised people not to ignore these signs and to seek medical help immediately. It was also explained that the government provides free treatment for TB, and patients must complete the full course of medicines to get fully cured.
Message by Ram Kishore Sharma on TB Elimination
While addressing the gathering, Ram Kishore Sharma said that TB is a serious but fully curable disease. He emphasized that awareness is the key to eliminating TB from society. He encouraged everyone to come forward, get tested on time, and support others in understanding the importance of treatment. He also said that collective efforts are necessary to achieve the goal of a TB-Free India.
More Awareness Camps to Be Organized Soon
Ram Kishore Sharma informed that similar awareness and screening programs will soon be organized in all 26 wards of Shahdara South Zone. This step will help in reaching a larger population and spreading awareness at the grassroots level. It will also make health services more accessible to people living in different areas.
Importance of Such Initiatives
Programs like this play a very important role in improving public health. They not only provide free medical services but also educate people about diseases that can be controlled and cured with timely action. Such initiatives help in reducing fear and misinformation about TB and encourage people to take responsibility for their health. Conclusion The TB awareness and free screening program in Shahdara South Zone was a meaningful step towards building a healthier society. With active participation from officials, doctors, and citizens, the campaign successfully spread awareness and provided essential health services. Efforts like these bring the country closer to the dream of a TB-Free India, where every person is aware, healthy, and safe.
