In the wake of the tragic collapse of a bridge over the Mahisagar River in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on the BJP, holding its three-decade-long rule in the state responsible for the systemic corruption that continues to cost innocent lives. Expressing deep sorrow over the deaths, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Gujarat Prabhari Gopal Rai have called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident, demanding strict action against those responsible. Arvind Kejriwal, Gopal Rai demand accountability
May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. But at this moment, it is also important to ask a serious question.” For the last 30 years, the BJP has ruled Gujarat. Will it answer how such substandard and deadly bridges are repeatedly built in the state, only to collapse and kill innocent people? This negligence and corruption, thriving under the protection of power, is costing ordinary citizens their lives. No matter how influential or powerful the culprits are, the strictest possible action must be taken against them. Only then can we prevent such tragedies in the future and save innocent lives,” stated the AAP Chief.

Call for probe into Vadodara-Anand bridge tragedy
AAP’s Gujarat Prabhari Gopal Rai also criticised the BJP government, calling the incident yet another example of the collapse of its so-called “development model.” Posting on X, Gopal Rai wrote: “The BJP’s much-hyped Gujarat development model has once again crumbled. The bridge connecting Vadodara and Anand collapsed midway, with several vehicles plunging into the river. Be it the Morbi bridge collapse, the Rajkot fire tragedy, or the Takshashila fire in Surat — each time, BJP’s negligence and corruption have taken the lives of hundreds of innocent people. Gujarat will no longer tolerate this. Change is inevitable.” AAP Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar wrote: “How long will BJP’s corruption continue to be passed off as an ‘accident’? How many more lives will be lost? Will the government ever be held accountable?”

AAP volunteers join rescue efforts as party questions BJP’s ‘development model’
Senior AAP leader and Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi also posted on X, urging party workers to assist at the“A major accident has taken place in Padra, Vadodara district. The Gambhira bridge connecting Vadodara and Anand has collapsed, and many vehicles have fallen into the river. I request all AAP volunteers to reach the spot and support the rescue efforts.“What an astonishing attitude the BJP government has. The Chief Minister says only 1 out of 23 bridges collapsed, and yet, even after so many deaths, the government continues to hide behind negligence and corruption? Videos exist of local residents repeatedly expressing concerns. Yet the government will now stage an investigation drama? The deceased are not just statistics — they are our people, our families. The BJP government must take responsibility for this tragedy.
