NEW DELHI: Delhi’s experiment with the BJP has started to unravel barely five months into its term. What began with high hopes has descended into widespread regret, as even a brief spell of rain has brought the Capital to its knees. Choked roads, flooded colonies, drinking water shortages, and power cuts have sparked sharp disillusionment among residents—many of whom now openly question their electoral choice. Drawing room conversations and WhatsApp groups across the city are abuzz with talk of governance failure. Reacting to the unprecedented civic breakdown stretching from Delhi to Gurugram, AAP’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said the BJP, despite being handed a historic opportunity after 27 years, has proven itself to be utterly incompetent.
Power cuts spark public outrage across the Capital
AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj on Friday said that discussions across WhatsApp groups, drawing rooms, and South Delhi clubs among the city’s middle class are all pointing to one sentiment — bringing BJP to power in Delhi was a serious mistake. “People have realised they forgot BJP’s track record — this is the same party that has ruled Haryana for the past 12–14 years and consistently wins the Gurgaon municipal elections, and yet, every year, luxury cars in crores of rupees are seen submerged under water in Gurgaon’s poshest addresses. This is nothing new.”Saurabh Bharadwaj said that despite being aware of this, Delhiites gave the BJP a chance, hoping its leadership would deliver. “But in just the first monsoon, all four of BJP’s so-called engines have failed. Had the Aam Aadmi Party been in charge of the MCD today, BJP’s Chief Minister, ministers, and the Lieutenant Governor would have squarely blamed AAP for the chaos. But now, the truth is clear to the people of Delhi — whether it is NDMC, DDA, MCD, or PWD roads, every agency is under BJP’s control. Yet, every road is flooded. This is an unfortunate and shameful state of affairs for the capital,” Saurabh Bharadwaj stated.
