Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Shri Devender Yadav said that the BJP, out of fear of defeat, was misusing the Election Commission and the police to act against the Congress candidate in an undemocratic and unconstitutional manner in the by-election to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). He said that to deny permission to open the election office of Congress candidate for the Naraina Ward Shri Manoj Kumar Tanwar by the DEO (DM, New Delhi) was the latest example of BJP’s misuse of official machinery out of fear of defeat in the MCD by-election in Naraina. He said that the BJP was trying to spread panic by misusing the administrative machinery in Delhi out of fear of defeat.
Rs.5,000 by entering
Devender Yadav said that on November 10, 2025, Congress candidate Shri Manoj Kumar Tanwar had given an advance of Rs.5,000 by entering into a rent agreement for a 300-square feet floor at WZ-572H, Ground Floor, Club Road, Naraina Village, New Delhi from November 10 to 30 for opening his election office, and sought permission to open his election office but surprisingly it was rejected by the Election Commission at the behest of the BJP in an attempt to scuttle the election campaign of the Congress candidate. Devender Yadav said that it was a matter of concern that whereas the Congress candidate’s request to open his election office was rejected, the BJP candidate faced no such hurdle in opening the party’s election office at the same address, which was a worst example of misusing the official machinery to favour the ruling BJP candidate. He said that the BJP candidate had entered into an agreement with same landlord for the election office only on 11th November 2025, a day after the Congress candidate did. He said that it was surprising that the BJP leaders have stooped so low that they misused the baton of power to gain unfair advantage.
Devender Yadav said that when Congress candidate Manoj Kumar Tanwar had given advance payment for the rent agreement to open the election office on the said property on November 10 itself, how could the BJP candidate open the election office there?. He said the BJP was using force to threaten the property owner to usurp the place. He said BJP tries to spread panic by misusing the administrative machinery in Delhi out of fear of defeat Devender Yadav said that in the last 9 months, nothing has been done by the BJP except making various announcements and false promises, and people’s anger will be reflected against the BJP in all the 12 MCD wards set for by-elections.
