AAP, which failed to control air pollution for 11 years, now wastes precious time of the Assembly by raising the issue today- Devender Yadav

New Delhi, January 5, 2026 – Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Shri Devender Yadav said that the first day of the winter session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly was marked by meaningless debate and the government did not present any concrete proposal to provide permanent relief to the people of Delhi from dangerous pollution. He said that in the Lt. Governor’s address in the House no mention was made about pollution control and the corruption of the previous AAP government which was revealed in the CAG report other than praising the present Rekh Gupta government of the BJP. He said that in the last 11 months, Rekha Gupta government did not even order a probe into the irregularities found in the CAG reports about the corruption of the AAP government.

Shri Devender Yadav said that the AAP, which raised a hue and cry about pollution at the beginning of the winter session, had done nothing to control air pollution over 11 years in power except wasting government revenue and giving financial benefits to its workers. He said that the Rekha government has also done nothing for pollution control in the last 11 months other than making hollow claims and false statements. He said that the BJP has squandered crores of rupees on failed attempts like cloud seeding to induce artificial rain. He said that the remaining CAG reports about the blatant corruption of AAP government should be placed on the table of the House by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and tell the people of Delhi what action has been taken so far on the CAG reports about the liquor scam, Sheesh Mahal, Mohalla Clinic, among other subjects.

Shri Devender Yadav said that CM Rekha Gupta’s failure to give any concrete proposals to control the dangerous air pollution was an attempt to hide her failure. He said that Delhi is the most polluted city in the world, and while environmentalists and doctors are advising people to leave Delhi to protect their health, the government is taking unsuccessful measures like closing schools, 50 per cent capacity attended in government offices in the name of pollution control. He said that the government is not concerned about those coming out of their homes for work and those working in the open, who are inhaling poisonous air with every breath.

Shri Devender Yadav said that 13 percent of the budget of one lakh crore rupees is for the improvement of Delhi’s poor health services means that most of the money is going into the hands of private companies. He said that through the PPP model, the BJP government is providing funds to private companies instead of providing facilities to the patients. He said that the plan to operate 11 new hospitals under the PPP model clearly shows that the Rekha government is also preparing to hand over government institutions to private hands like the Modi government has been doing. He said that Delhi’s first e-waste plant at Holambi Kalan is also being handed over to private hands like various other projects, including cleaning of Yamuna, sewage treatment plants, cleaning of small and big drains, increasing STP capacity and pollution control.
