AAP MLA Jarnail Singh on Wednesday tore into Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s claim that there is no waterlogging in Delhi, exposing the ground reality in Najafgarh where streets, homes, and farmlands remain submerged. Touring flood-hit areas, Jarnail Singh said the Chief Minister has added insult to injury by denying the crisis, even as families battle devastation caused by the BJP government’s negligence. He demanded that the government immediately announce compensation for the affected. Exposing the grim reality of massive waterlogging in Najafgarh, AAP MLA from Tilak Nagar Jarnail Singh said, “The people of Delhi are in deep distress, and Rekha Gupta’s tweet has rubbed salt into their wounds. In her tweet, the CM wrote that due to her government’s efforts there is no waterlogging anywhere in Delhi. Either CM Rekha Gupta does not know how much Delhiites are suffering due to flooding, or she does not consider Najafgarh to be a part of Delhi.”
AAP’s Jarnail Singh demands urgent compensation for flood
The AAP MLA asserted, “I request her to take note of the plight of flood victims. People are in severe difficulty as water has entered their homes. Hundreds of acres of crops have been destroyed. In other states, similar disasters struck, but their governments acted immediately, announced compensation, and began relief and rescue operations. CM Rekha Gupta too must wake up from her slumber and immediately announce compensation.” Jarnail Singh pointed out that Rekha Gupta herself claimed, “We have ensured there is no waterlogging in Delhi this year.” He said, “On her X handle, she wrote that earlier governments failed, but this year there has been no waterlogging in Delhi. What bigger proof is needed than the fact that in residential colonies of Najafgarh, floodwater has collected to the extent that it looks like the world’s largest swimming pools? People here are telling me water has entered their homes, thefts are happening, snakes have entered houses, and the risk of diseases is rising. Yet the CM either does not consider Najafgarh a part of Delhi or she is simply unaware of the city’s condition.”
Families and farmers; accuses CM Rekha
Jarnail Singh strongly criticised the CM for failing to visit the affected area. “CM Rekha Gupta has not visited Najafgarh even once. We accept that rainfall was heavy this time, but other states also faced disasters. In Punjab, floods came, but there the CM, MLAs, and workers went straight to the ground to serve the people. In Delhi, the Chief Minister does not even know the devastation caused by floods. She did not have a single moment to spare for Najafgarh. Meanwhile, diseases are spreading due to the floods.” He urged the government to wake up to the crisis. “If the CM did not know earlier, now she has been informed that the flood situation in Delhi is very serious. She must immediately announce compensation for the people. Families whose furniture, children’s books, and belongings have been destroyed must be compensated. Farmers whose crops have been ruined must also be compensated. Do not pretend ignorance. What clearer proof is needed than the sight of water flowing on the streets? Yet Rekha Gupta claims she has no information.
